After breakfast, we plan to head to the Machame Gate to complete necessary formalities. Then, we will drive through villages and both coffee and banana plantations to the Umbwe Gate at 1600 m. On the first day, we will travel through a dense mountain rainforest on a path running along the ridge between two deep valleys. Our camp is situated among huge trees and thick underbrush. Unfortunately, there's no water in there, so both we and our porters need to stock up at the park gates. The entire trek takes 5 to 7 hours, covering a little over 10 km.

On this day, we are going to move through rocky terrain, with the landscape changing abruptly from tropical forests to heather with sparse shrubs and moss-covered trees. The path in this section is steeper than the one from the previous day. We have to descend along the Umbwe ridge through the unusual but beautiful Senecio forest to Barranco Camp at 3976 m, which is located in the valley beneath the massive Barranco Wall. Other routes like Machame, Lemosho, and Shira also converge at this camp.

After breakfast, we are going to begin a trek towards Lava Tower at 4600 m. The trail is steep, leading uphill a very rocky terrain. If the weather is good, we might see Mount Meru piercing through the clouds. It takes about 5 hours to reach Lava Tower, where we'll have time to rest and eat lunch. Afterwards, we are going to go on with a slightly more challenging trek that involves some climbing to reach Arrow Glacier Camp at 4903 m.

Crater Camp
Crater Camp
A very challenging day awaits us. First, we climb to a considerable height at Crater Camp at 5730 m, leaving just 165 meters of elevation to reach the Uhuru Peak. Secof of all, we start the trek very early in the morning. The trail itself begins relatively easily, but it gets progressively harder There will be several tricky and rocky sections where using your hands will be necessary. Although the distance to cover is only 2 km, the high altitude and difficult terrain mean it usually takes about 6 hours to reach Crater Camp at 5730 m.

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we will officially say goodbye to our porters, cooks and guides. A gentle 3–5-hour descent through the rainforest will lead us to the park gates, where we must complete the final formalities. Then, we are going to head back to Moshi to our hotel for a well-deserved shower and an awaited rest. In the evening, there's a farewell party planned, during which we will celebrate our accomplishments!
